Sobre Los Cerros — "upon the hills" — is a private courtyard residence organized around a long, black-edged reflecting pool. Low tile-roofed wings and an open loggia frame the water court, dissolving the boundary between garden and interior; at its heart, a music pavilion opens fully to the terrace.

The house reflects the studio's range beyond the West Coast modern idiom: a warm, traditionally rooted composition of stucco, clay tile and timber, handled with the same restraint and attention to light, reflection and landscape that runs through all of the firm's work. The studio's own website presented it as its "San Diego Spanish Revival" project — the firm's built work reached from British Columbia and Alberta into the western United States.
