A retreat on British Columbia's Sunshine Coast, counted by the studio among its award-winning work. Heavy timber post-and-beam construction rises from a base of local stone, with floor-to-ceiling glazing wrapping the main living pavilion so the house reads as a lantern in the forest after dark.

Exposed Douglas fir rafters carry a soaring gabled roof over the great room, while a flat-roofed concrete-and-cedar wing steps quietly behind it. Terraces and a pool extend the living space into the landscape — architecture shaped by the Coast's geography of rock, forest and water.
